Always Be Closing
An ABC for salesmen, a great pleasure for those of you who haven’t forgotten it’s acting that makes a movie great not special effects. Glengarry Glen Ross is a movie that won’t let you be indifferent. Period.
They’re all magnificent in this movie. All of them: Jack Lemmon, Kevin Spacey, Alec Baldwin, Ed Harris and Al Pacino. Not only will you learn “what it takes to sell real estate” (go ahead and click on the icon to watch the best “motivational speech” ever) and witness one ordinary day from an ordinary salesmen’s life (and believe me it might turn out to be pretty unpredictable), you’ll also be able to enjoy Great Acting of Great Actors’ ensemble and that’s worth seeing!
After having watched this movie I think I might become a fan of Jack Lemmon’s. His Shelly “The Machine” Levene is flawless. If there’s someone who knows exactly how to play a man in despair it’s Jack Lemmon. As for Alec Boldwin, I had abslolutely no idea he could act LIKE THAT! (again, click on the icon and check out that link, you’re gonna love the man). Al Pacino… OK I know there’s a person that is going to argue why Al Pacino wasn’t the first one to be mentioned. My answer to that would be: because he is Al Pacino, he’s always the first one no matter where you put him in a list. However his characher must have been portrayed so perfectly that all it takes to be great at this role is simply to be Al Pacino. And the last but not the least, Kavin Spacey. You saw him in American Beauty and Pay Forward? Sweet. Forget it. You are about to discover his Dark Side.
